Fifty-third and last visit of the year to Duxford. I had hoped to get a mid week visit in just before Christmas, but a bit of a head cold put paid to that. The first thing you notice on arrival is that the Hurricane weather vane at the main gate has gone walkabout, but only as far as Hangar 5 where it’s receiving a bit of TLC. A Reuters armoured Land Rover was a new addition to the restoration hangar.

Hangar 4 is next in line for the fire alarm upgrade and will be closed most of January. Some of the airframes in H4 have been slightly re-arranged so the contractors can have access.

Hangar 3, which has been closed for the past couple of months, has had the alarm upgrade will remain open for January while H4 is closed and then it will close again. To give the contractors unhindered access, the Sea King and Gannet from H3 were temporarily housed in AirSpace.

The only new edition to TFC in H2/South is a big Bristol Centarus power egg and the P-47 now has wheels but still awaiting the return of its engine. I believe the Hawk 75 is next in line to fly.

In H2/North winter maintenance continues with ‘Sally-B’ and the Catalina.

That Centaurus is from the Dutch Military Air museum. It once was attached to Fokker buildt Sea Fury 6-18. Last time I saw it was in 2005 at the open depot days at Soesterberg.
It belonged to the Fokker Heritage Trust, who sold it to TFC in October.
