As mentioned in a previous post a South African Airways 747 is to display this weekend, that is in addition to the Red Arrows. The real show stopper though is a flight of tame cranes (birds not the lifting variety) in formation with a microlight!
I wonder what ex resident of Duxford Airfield, Douglas Bader, would have made of that?
What do you think they should dream up next?

I saw this item on Look East this evening – there was very nearly a mid-air collison between one of the Cranes and the microlight.
I can only ask the question “Who the hell thought of this for Duxford”???
Birds and aircraft should be kept well apart – and here they are releasing a dozen of them to pootle about after a hang-glider!!!
I think I’ll take a good book to read just in case they can’t get the bloody birds back into the box!!
[shuffles off shaking head in despair..]

Something like that, in truth the attractions are mainly to the south of Norwich other than work so I am off. Plus I don’t like cities I prefer to have fields around me than houses and shops.

You can run from them, but you can’t hide. They’ll get you. trust no-one.
At least they’d keep you safe. Some of the others, ooh, they’re BAD news. There’s no point in running – you just die tired.
So, what happened then? Railway Station have a clear-up of the pile of old boxes around the back again?

Having watched the Crane / Microlight foration at Biggin Hill a couple of years ago it’s interesting to see. Things like this the Red Arrows and 747 flypast bring the non enthusiast punters in, Duxford caters for the enthusiast each year with Leg Ends. I shan’t be going however as I’m moving house.
What I don’t know however is how they will get the Cranes to stand still on the flightline all morning so people can photograph them, the arguments it will cause if they are not on the flightline don’t bear thinking about.
