Hi all,

Does anybody have any info on the participants of the Duxford Flying Legends 2010 airshow?

Thanks,

How did we all cope in the lead up to an airshow in the pre internet days????
I used to enjoy turning up to an airshow and being suprised by what turned up rather than knowing everything beforehand only to be disappointed when a particular machine was unable to make it….

Completely agree……..and as for the other inevitable question………go look at G-INFO :dev2:

Don’t think that there will be a Catalina present, again.
Plane sailing is of the Austria, and the Dutch one has not flown yet at all during this year.

Sorry Pen Pusher – my eyesight was correct when reading the signs! – Holiday Inn express

I stand corrected but there are no signs, on the road side, to say what it is.

I had lunch at the Red Lion last week – they are building a 71 bedroom Holiday inn express. No rooms this year – but for FL 2011 you may have another option for staying.

And I think I can guess at the room prices for that weekend!:(

Better have your hard hat and hi-viz jacket on as it’s a building site at the moment. They’re either building a Travelodge, ops bunker, or a very big electricity substation…

I’d go with Travelodge 😀

Brian is wearing the hard hat and hi-viz jacket just to walk around Duxford…:p

Wonder if IWM have ever thought about sprucing up the OM at Duxford and offering airshow visitors the chance to stay in a historic building for the airshow weekends. I’m sure they’d have interest if they included meals and free access to the museum even in the form of a unique package (including Gold pass enclosure + meal) – it could even be a good base for visitors to travel into London for other tourist sights with Whittlesford railway station just down the road.
I think they are missing out on a great opportunity to perhaps make a little money seeing as they seem to be pleading poverty right now…

Although by the Wednesday prior probably a bit more than that………….in any case I shall pretend it’s pre-internet and arrive on Sunday morning ready to be amazed!

Likewise. More fun that way. It will be good anyway. Even without TFC machines it was still good last year si I see no reason to suppose this year will be any worse.

I plan to participate. As a special treat for those present I plan on performing a wonderful act at Whittleford’s picturesque Red Lion on the Friday night. All of that without having a current CAA low level waiver…

They probably don’t know what will be there either,:) all bookings are provisional, any list published is only a wish/hope list.

We did like Elliott is this year we went in blind and as I recall we were seldom disappointed then. I’m not going to bother looking at the projected list even when it is published as I know it will be good whatever is there.

I’m with you Chris, I can also remember the ‘olden days’ (wasn’t that long ago you know:rolleyes:) when you just turned up and enjoyed whatever happened to be there.

Indeed – I’m “going in blind”, so to speak, so will rock up on Thursday and enjoy four days of warbird heaven, without knowing what to expect from both participation and programme (other than the usual suspects, of course). 😎

Generally, participants are revealed the week before the show. Last year, I seem to remember the list being published on the Wednesday prior.

It’s Flying Legends, large crowds are pretty much assured so there’s no need to release a list that is subject to change weeks before the show, I suppose!

Added to which that it is in the nature of these beautiful machines that their availability may not be clear until closer to show time. We must just be patient but with the knowledge that we are unlikey to be disapponted. It will be my first Legends and I cannot wait for it. In fact I am enjoying not knowing the line up and looking forward to being surprised.
