Duxford from a Monopod – 29Jan11

Another bitterly cold day but not enough to stop me sitting outside and having my cheese sandwich for lunch while watching a pair of identical Tiger Moths performing a sedate tail chase over the airfield. Very nice. Apart from Hangar 5 (Conservation) now being closed and Hangar 3 open again, there was no change in any of the other hangers from my last visit. So it was out with my mono pod and wave my camera about in the air and try and get a slightly higher and different perspective on the usual subjects, mainly in the American Air Museum and AirSpace. All taken with a Sony 11-18mm wide angle lens.

I dont recall the A10 being strung up on my last visit. How did they retract the undercariage?

Terrific photos as ever – the SR71 is becoming embarrassing! Hope to get up there for my regular February visit when all the displays will be open for the schools half-term hols.:)

Excellent shots Brian, as ever : I’ve yet to visit the American hall : must get down this year. Dusty though it may be, at least the SR-71 has stopped leaking fuel all over the deck, as it did in service!;) Brian S.

You could plant spuds on that SR71…

Fantastic and unique photos. The Blackbird looks like it needs a dusting!.

Brilliant photos thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately they all need a good dusting but i fear dusting the SR71 (and everything else) would be like painting the Forth bridge plus she has a matt covering that makes it look worse!!

Outstanding pics, nice work http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/images/icons/icon14.gif

Anytime I find myself travelling along the M11 (very rare) I call in to Duxford, it’s the law 😉
