Duxford in HDR – 05Aug11

That’s HDR as in 3 images, one with a correct exposure, one under and one over exposed and not multi coloured, psychedelic tone mapping. I was using the Sony A580 in-camera HDR function and although it’s not written that it can be used hand held, a few reviews I had read said you could. So I did. The images below from the AAM I have in the past been able to achieve but using the camera on a tripod with long exposures, but usually the glass wall is overexposed and you can’t see any detail in it. With the camera on AUTO it was coming up with some high ISO numbers so went manual to try and keep the ISO and image noise down. It’s written in the Instruction Manual that you should use this function on static subjects only so the Harvard, which was off to Shoreham I think it was, and the Catalina, which was off to East Kirkby, were actually moving. Didn’t work on all moving subjects though.

Of all the pictures I have seen you post, the Blackbird has to be my favorite.
Great pics and thanks for sharing.

Some fantastic shots especially the blackbird which always a knightmare to shoot well.

Maybe a trip to Hendon would be the ultimate test for this function!!
