Duxford May Show Get-Together

I want to get my mouth around Ashleys Nibbles.

I SAID NIBBLES!

From memory, her lunch box is supposedly filled with mouthwatering delights of delicious attraction, a veritable grail of seduction and temptation, so for those of you who, like I, intend to attend the show in a few weeks time, how about we all meet up for some grub before the flying kicks off? Say a mass ‘picnic’ of salivating anoraks all grouped together in one spot for a brief time…..Highest stepladder wins a Scotch Egg!

The media brief, however, makes no mention of what Ashley has tucked away from prying eyes, just this:

May Air Display – Sunday 4 May
The MAY Air Display commemorates the 60th anniversary of the legendary Dambusters raid by Lancasters of the 617 Squadron and pays tribute to B-17 Flying Fortress Memphis Belle which famously completed its last mission sixty years ago. This show will be the first major UK air display of the year and will feature other aircraft that have taken part in daring against-the-odds missions. Proposed guests of honour will include surviving members of 617 Squadron that took part in the raid, Veterans from the β€˜Walrus’ Squadron of Air Sea rescue, Veteran Typhoon pilots, Battle of Britain pilots and Veteran pilots of 78 Fighter group based at Duxford in 1943.
Current participating aircraft includes; Lancaster, Harrier, Jaguar, Hawk and Falcons*

Looks good huh?

“what’s a center?”

A dikelslick middle.

I just went and bought 2 scotch eggs (but ate one), a baguette, some brie, some ham, some double gloucester, some lettuce, decent crisps and Pepsi. And cigars. I’m ready.

I’ll be wearing no hair except a goatee, a camera bag, and an Irvin with a 609 (WR) Squadron badge on the left chest (mostly obscured.) I’ll be hanging around bookstalls a lot, or otherwise bimbling around.

If its raining, shall we meet by the Yank museum bit, near the center, outside?

So is the group meeting up outside the Flypast Marquee?
Do we wear Carnations or carry Scotch eggs?

Hi,
I contacted the marketing department at Duxford and as far as they are aware NO veterans from the 78th FG will be at the show on 4/5/03!
However several RAF Veterans will be attending the show.
I would like to meet up with other members of the Forum, has a time and place been decided on?

So will I! Haha. I HAVE to go there!

Okay, over to you lot, when and where? Lunchtime perhaps? By the control tower? Whens the flying start? Who’s bringing the scotch eggs?

Snapper, where are you proposing to meet? I’ve got some Typhoon pilot photos and other bits and pieces which may be new to you. I’ll be visiting the Vector Fine Art Prints stand to pick up a signed Tiffy book.

I take it you’re referring to the September show. Best keep an eye on their website over the coming months, although, oddly, the current airshow bookings have disappeared from the TFC website.

The P47 is the only TFC participation in May.

Does the Seahawk compensate for the awfulness of two eggbeaters and some Tornados?

Needs thinking about.
