I have never flown into a display day at Duxford, but I have always assumed (from half-hearted observation from the crowd) that the GA arrivals are parked to the South of the main runway. (In other words, viewed from the crowdline the aircraft are parked beyond the hard)

As the grass strip at Dux is between the hard and the crowd how would your statement work unless the GA aircraft were actually North of the grass strip?

I’ve had 5 pints of Adnams so far tonight. Apologies if I am making little sense.

Mmm, Adnams. 🙂

Making perfect sense about the GA kit Moggy, but I think Digby was talking more about the participant aircraft.

Better, but you saved it as a gif, not a jpg.
Gifs only have 256 colours and are too big.
I saved it as a jpg and it went down from 90k to 15!

Keep practising!

Great pic, Cargomaster.
Don’t know what you used to resize it and change the resolution, but, if you use PaintShop Pro, dropping the resolution makes the picture bigger! (Uses the same number of pixels and stretches it). No idea if other progs do the same thing but wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
Drop the resolution first and then check/adjust the size works for me.

That Shackleton photo speaks a thousand words.
Its a crying shame that this can happen in a national museum.

“I guess I am alone in thinking the shack needs to go.. Pride of Duxford my arse!”

Well I dunno as I’d agree that she outta ‘go’,but certainly she can’t stay as she is.She’s presently earmarked to become a wingless walk-through exhibit in the new superhanger extension,so she’ll be partially restored, partially scrapped. What I would like to know is why the Shack is deemed to be unsaveable in complete form. What’s meant to be wrong with the wings?Surelly if things were really that bad they’d corden her off and not allow folks underneath her,but this hasn’t happenned,so is the IWM’s reasoning on a financial basis rather than a technical one?

No Peter, you aren’t. That’s why I took (and posted) the picture.

How long have you had the selective dyslexia Peter?

Moggy,

Canon change the lens mounts regularly to upset the ‘after market’ people like Tamron, Sigma and so on. This means that some lenses by other manufacturers won’t work properly (or at all) with the latest Canon stuff. As such, both my trusty old 18-35 and 170-500mm lenses do not fucnction with the 10D – though they did with both the EOS 5 and the D30. Therefore, lenses and recipts of original purchase must go to Sigma, where they will rechip them for free (cost if no receipt available, I think £35). This is not under warranty, (had the lenses since 1996) but an example of splendid, and rare, customer service. And people knock Sigma? I wouldn’t imagine anyone else being so good.

Hey Snapper.

My colleague (Who has collared our 10D as ‘hers’) has just asked me to ask you to explain what ‘re-chipping’ a lens involves / is for?

Alexis the ammount of A/C does make a hell of a difference so I am told at Duxford they have all those warbirds at Legends and only a certain No of slots to put them in. also if you parked them tail to the public then you would have to taxi out towards the grass strip which would be quite intresting to say the least if they were taking off or landing, so I’m afraid your stuck with nose on I suppose. With the work load I would imagine at legends it’s park them for an airshow not a Flypast photo shoot.

I don’t see what difference the amount of aircraft would make, you can have the same amount of aircraft in the same space just facing the other way.
