Duxford Restorations

On my first visit to Duxford this year, two observations.
First the Beaufighter has both wings in jigs which are being reskinned. good news.
The more amazing sight was the Viscount stripped of all its paintwork and the complete tailplane removed! Has corrosion taken hold? This aircraft has always struck as one of the most well done restorations at Duxford and I believe won awards. It is outside with no protection and the paint shop is occupied by the TSR2. I hope this is a very temporary situation for the World’s oldest Viscount.

2013 – wow. looking at it you would have thought sooner. just shows how much work goes into these things and how much work we dont see just by taking a eyeball round the outside.
