A few pics from a brief visit into Dx today.. would of been more but my digital camera stopped playing ball.
Also noted was the F15 in the spray shop, Spitfire MH434 up on jacks with her wheels off and F6 Hellcat outside having engine runs to name but a few.;)

Every year on my annual pilgrimage to Duxford I look at the mighty Beau. And hope maybe, just maybe, it’ll fly here after all. Suspect it’s just not gonna happen 🙁

Props , engines , wheels , tyres, and manpower, according to the guy who has been working on it off and on for years, hes now doing the P-47.

I have the same thoughts Wyvernfan, what is it now, 20 years of work? At least I’d hope to see a test flight before she goes (USA or Australia I’d imagine) but I didn’t think the issue with the engines/props had been resolved? I’ll happily be corrected on that though.

One i forgot to load yesterday. Everytime i look at this magnificent aircraft and how far it has come in its restoration, it just saddens me that we may never see her take to the air in the UK. Over the years it has to be one of THE most hoped for and long awaited first flights of a restored/preserved historic aircraft.
Is there any news on her expected impending sale?

Bruce – was it taken out of the IWM FW190 ?
No, we had it installed in FHC’s A-5 for a while, for cowling fitting.

It may have been a sunny day but it was freezing running up the Stearman as it takes ages to warm up to operating temperature. Can’t complain though…

Re The Hornet – maybe THIGAR have found one !:D:eek:
“coming to an airshow” – that is one cruel tease don’t you think !?
Reckon it’ll be ready for L……… 😉

Yes, I’ve seen model Hornets at airshows before now though!
When Brian Eno anounced in his 1974 meisterwerk Taking Tiger Mountain, “we are the 801, we are the central shaft” I think I know what he was on!

By: Wyvernfan - 12th May 2010 at 16:33
Looks it to me Keith. Has’nt moved much in two and a half years :D.
By: keithnewsome - 12th May 2010 at 16:05
Is this the same engine, less a (cooling) fan on the shaft, photo from Dec 2007.
Keith.

Yes me too. All this talk of Chinese and American engines in FW 190’s but i guess you can’t beat an original. Shame they are so bl@@dy rare.
