Well with the twon last disaplays flaling on the same day im undecided where to go. The vulcan looks like/is a no go which was the main reason for going to duxford. But duxford still looks like a cracker which types i havent seen before such as the swordfish….tho with its track record this season its looking like a no go.
So i might follow the crowd this time and ask what is everyone else doing?
This is off course if the weather plays ball…..but late september/early october is always nice crisp, sunny, fresh days just like today
Any ideas
Cheers

Not sure yet what we are launching for the October Air Day at Duxford but we do have confirmation that the Gladiator will be going to the Shuttleworth display on the 5th of October.
Just hope weather plays ball and i can get there

As 668 has said Old Warden is always the first Sunday, Duxford last year was on the 14th So Duxford has moved the date, Also no Vulcan at Duxford either now.:(

Or vice versa.

You’d think that someone at Duxford would think “Hey, the display at OW will effect attendance at ours-lets move it!”
By: XH668 - 27th September 2008 at 10:35
I’d prefer to do both, but ridiculous scheduling denies that opportunity.
Me and all, the fault lies with duxford i believe as shuttleworths display is always the first sunday.

Shuttleworths list seems to have got smaller
Its a great line up and id happily go but theres nothing therre i havent seen before. Im going with the family and a few little children and i cant see that being a wow for them. Give it 10 mins and the interest will have gone.
I wouldnt mind it my self if i was going alone or with someone else with an interest but i think duxford might have won.
Don’t forget we also have the birds of prey, the swiss gardens and the very enjoyable jubille play centre on site, to be honest you could be with your kids in the playground during the display and still be about as close to the action as you would be at Duxford.
And don’t forget should the weather turn at OW you can watch the display in your car, can you do that at Duxford?
Also I think a possible 31 aircraft display is quite respectable really but then maybe I’m biased see you at OW. 😀

But isn’t the point that we have two shows in the same general area on the same day. Surely the two organising teams could get together and de-conflict their show dates. It’s asking a bit much of even the diehard fans to do Sywell, Little Gransden, OW twice and Duxford twice in 6 weekends.

I suspect what 668 is saying is that small kids won’t differentiate between any of the selection of unique survivors at OW and the Tiger Moth that follows, whilst at Dux there will be some with propellors, some with noisy jet pipes and quite possibly some with ceiling fans.

Where else in the world would you see a line up like Shuttleworths?
When you go to Shuttleworth you have to step back and just think at what you are watching fly ……….. chances are it would be the only example of that type in the world that can fly !!!!! I for one take Shuttleworth forgranted as is just up the road;)

OW have had a cr*p couple of years weather-wise which has probably affected attendance and income.
They need your support more.

I prefer Old Warden as a venue (cosier, somehow) but like to wander through Stephen Grey’s ‘Alladins Cave!’- Love seeing the restoration progress-guess i’m undecided, too!-sorry, i’ve been no help whatsoever!
