What did people think of the show?
I thought it was a very rounded show that had something for everyone (apart from those helicopter fans out there).
Well done to all the pilots. The skies look great, the windsock didn’t.

At last – the Air-Scene UK report!
By: tfcep120 - 6th May 2003 at 16:01
I enjoyed the show on Sunday. It was a nice, low key way to open the season. Highlights for me were:
Breitling Fighters
Matadors
Stephen Grey in the P47
Frank Chapman in the Gladiator
John Romain in the Blenheim (along with Mike Collet in the Anson)
The Storch
The Operation TELIC marked Tornado
All the regular RAF displays, but in particular the XV Sqn GR4, Hawk and Tucano.
Pembroke and T28

For me, the best parts of the Duxford Airshow were the displays by the Hawk and the Superb Tailchase by the Spitfire the Mustang and the Corsair!
Snapper, I am sorry that I missed the meet up o/s the Flypast marquee! But I was in deep conversation with some friends on the Eastman Leather Clothing stand.
I even had my Scotch egg ready!
Steve:)

Just read on avi8.com about the policy changing at Duxford to reduce the amount of aviation related trandstands and bring more bric-a-brac in. Sounds like the future is going to turn Duxford into a commercial car boot sale and then rob us all for an entrance fee.

Being a through and through gentleman I have to say that meeting Ashley made the show for me. The aircraft paled in comparison. 😉
Mrs Moggy also liked meeting her

Kept an eye out for scotch egg bearing forum members (didn’t get there until gone 1pm so you’d probably all buggered off somewhere else :))

10D’s are in and out. I had to wait 3 weeks for mine – from Jessops wholesale division! Everyone is buying them. half the airshow crowd, anway!
Sparky, very good to see you – what gave me away in the crowd? The reflection off my bald head, or the only [erson dumb enough not to have returned to the car to dump his Irvin by lunchtime?! Will post a few more pix tomorrow perhaps – a bit busy today. From the first proper run with the camera, I am now hooked on Digital. Apart from Infrared and Black and white (Fun) and the times I need slidefilm, the 35mm cameras I have are redundant. My 6×9 is probably going to get sold too.

It could be Digby but i arrived at 8am and it was not windy. I don’t think the wind picked up until nearer lunchtime.

Now I know why I can’t find a sodding 10D anywhere!!!!:D
By: DIGBY - 5th May 2003 at 20:51
Alexis, Don’t you think the way the A/C are parked will be down to which way the wind is blowing, not down to the way we would like them parked?

Scotch Egg
snapper, was the scotch egg a pre-arranged signal to identify forum members? 🙂
By: Snapper - 5th May 2003 at 16:37
I wish they’d left it on the beach.
I didn’t see anyone for the hour I was hanging around near the Flypast tent, scotch egg in hand. Ah well.

Thanks for the P-51 snapper. Sorry i didn’t make it up to meet everyone, by the time i had meet my freinds and walked around it was past 1.30 and i didn’t think anyone would still be there.
Matadors did it for me along with the Breitling boyo’s. About time the aircraft were parked facing away from the crowd. Lets hope it’s the same for legends. I wish they would leave the Harrier at home though.
