After some brief post picture processing I have the first batch of my outing yesterday at Dux, here goes….
Some internal gubbins shots, first up the Avro York Merlin engine…

The Blenheim re-build…

Blenheim cockpit…

The B-24M Liberator engine looking brand new…

I used some giraffe hormones and got a shot of the B-29A Superfortress cockpit…

The dioramas in the AAM are really good and made for some neat pics…

And the British ones aren’t half bad either!…

This made me think a little, poor little rich kid tried just too hard, no I’m not jealous of his millions….no I’m not.. …

A couple of depth of field type arty shots now….

This is one of my favourites so far, not that I am perversely fanatic about the swastika but the picture itself just turned out nice…

All was going well in the morning, I was pleased with the new hanger, me and my camera were getting along well together and the banter in my group was great then I had one of those strange moments.
While we were having fun and enjoying the museum I forgot what it was all about and on the road train over to the American Air Museum the whole train went quiet as we rounded the bend and the memorial wall came into view, it came home with a hammer blow just how much was given in the war effort and the magnitude of what was once unimaginable was clearly demonstrated to me.
I started at one end and made my way slowly along the wall examining every pane of glass, the gravity of just what happenned so many years ago becoming more clearer and much more painfull as I moved along, it humbled me in so many ways and I went round the rest of the exhibits with different and much more gratefull point of view……

Thats all for now, I have some more pics if anyone is interested and I will duely post tomorrow.
kindest regards,
John.

very nice pics John, thanks for sharing. I also like the fact that some punter very thaughtfully dropped a pen on to the starbaoard Vulcan top wing skin for scale!:D
Looks like a BIC to me, hope it’s still there when the Hungarians are visiting next week, Lazlo Bic is their local hero, they will be overcome to think that a Vulcan required a ballpoint pen to threaten the Eastern Bloc, psssst, won’t say anything.
I remember my then, 3 year old son, accidentally dropping a packet of polos on Napoleons tomb in Paris, he was absolutely distraught by this, and sobbed for ages afterwards, ( for some reason that I’ve never managed to work out, Napoleon was his hero,)
In the end he said,’ Well, there’s all those famous French generals in there and I’m sure that they will all meet up at midnight and share that packet of polos between themselves’.Thought I was ending up with a precocious monster, but you couldn’t be further from that, bless him, he can’t even remember any of this. Huh, kids, who would have them.

Some great pics there. I think the new hangar lends itself to photographs with unusual angles and ‘Arty’ composition. I was there in January, ‘though the upper walkway wasn’t fully open at the time. The lighting is also good.
It’s also nice to see aircraft displayed with hatches open and panels off. I like to see the gadgets that make it all work!

A few more….
Just a few more before bed time:D .
Overwing shot on the Vulcan…

Tsr-2, Vulcan and Cranberry = very niiiiiiiiice….

Interesting angle on the Harrier…

The Javelin finally indoors, hopefully she will get her long deserved renovation…

Nice shot of the starboard engine bay of the Concorde….

And to me the dream personified, a silver streak of thunderous explosive power that can only be the unique English Electric Lightning….

Thats all for now, some more tomorrow….
Regards,
John.
