Subject to confirmation, Duxford are planning to roll out Concord on Wednesday 12th January, from Hanger 1. This is currently all the detail I have.

Johnathan, can you confirm which aircraft are going outside and for how long? I’d like to get a good photo of some of them as we might not get the chance again for a very long time!

In fact while I’m here, don’t suppose there’s any chance of Duxford holding an enthusiasts photo day is there? i.e. a chance to get good piccys with no barriers or steps in place…and if you can just pull G-AOVT into clear tarmac that’ll be nice!!!

Indeed. BAe Systems are of course part of the AirSpace project, but other than that I’m unsure as to the implication ^

I think it’s possibly slightly unfair to compare the project management on this one with BAe Systems!

I bet you are a real hit at home….. 😮 😀 😉

Alas, there’s only me and 3 tons of aviation magazines – none of them with pages stuck together, I might add… :p

Which part of “we are doing a final decant prior to AirSpace building work commencing” do you not understand, Phillip?

So HAVE they started building work yet??….

No , seriously what machines will be in the open air? Just the big boys (Conc, Vulc, Comet?) I would just like to visit and “shoot” as many of these beasts in sun-light as poss.

cheers

See JonathanF’s post number 7 above.

Then am I right in saying they haven’t started yet?

Understand the contractor is Laing O’Rourke

That dodgy lot….. 😀 😀

I’ll have to ask them then….there’s about 25 Laing O’Rourke guys sitting about 10ft away from me here in the site office…… 😉

AirSpace Contractor

Understand the contractor is Laing O’Rourke – they have done a number of big projects like this over the years. It was Laing that designed and built the so-called “Gaydon” hangars for example, as well as building many airfields during the war. Not sure who the architect is – no doubt they will put up a big sign in the near future.

😀

From a professional interest point of view, who are the Architect, Consulting Engineer and main contractor……if that’s not a state secret

If it hasn’t already been released to the press, I’m afraid I can’t really divulge. I would expect the information to be available fairly soon.

And yes, inevitably some former H1 aircraft will be outside until the main construction phase is complete. Rest assured wherever we can find space we will use it. This is why the IWM side of H2 is not currently accessible.

I won’t get into the argument of suspension, its too thorny!

Hooray! Only a year late! I wonder if BAE Systems are doing the project management? 😀
