Dynamic engine thrust setting

I remember reading that the EJ-200 has a setting for more thrust that can be activated with a switch in the cockpit. I am not sure if it’s true, but in any case, how feasable would it be on a modern engine to have a setting for extra thrust that can be activated in flight? The extra thrust could be made available for a certain programmed time, like say 3 min max, to not damage the engine. That would help the fighter supercruise when approaching the opponents.

There could even be super thrust setting for like 30 sec with like 10-15% extra thrust for visual range engagement. It can be argued that the risk of losing the plane in WVR is quite high so using up the engine significantly at this point is an acceptable trade off.

Also, could the F119 have a secret wartime setting with 5-10% more thrust, that would explain the 37000lbs figure that has been given by some sources?
