Dynamic panoramic cockpit pictures

Hi.

First of all please forgive me if this has already been discussed.
Point-Fixe started a topic from the Master194.com french modelling forum that may interest you guys. There’s a link to Istvan Takacs’s web site. He’s a hungarian photographer who makes panoramic photographs and fiddles with them with some software so that they can be displayed dynamically 360° on a computer.
URL: http://album.reality.hu/
He’s done some cockpit pictures of MiG-29, An-2, MiG-21 cockpits and others. I saw this and I told myself that the message should be spread around so that other photographers around the world could do the same. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a 360° cockpit views library including F-16, F-4, etc cockpits ? Quote for the technical aspect:
I use a Pentax k10d + 10mm fisheye lens. With this I need to shoot 6 pics around +1 top +1 bottom. I shoot the place of the tripod from hand.
I need to use a special panorama head, what is very important, because I need to shoot all pics from the same positions what is calibrated for the lens. This is the “nodal” point.
To align the images there is several software. Hugin is free and working on win and linux, or Ptgui what is a realy professional solutions.
And of course I need photoshop or gimp for finalizing the image.
The final pic is mov,swf or special format.

Enjoy his work and perhaps do the same in your part of the world if you can !

Laurent
