Dzus Fasteners

Has anyone got any experience or instructions on the installation of Dzus Fasteners?

Fron my digging around Dzus Fasteners come in various styles, but the type I’m concerned with are the ones used during the 1940’s to retain the outer case on radio/radar electronic units.

So a shallow domed head, engaging with a spring installed in the rear wall of the equipment chassis.

From a data-sheet kindly supplied by Dave Goddard, they are Type A, and a sample I’ve recovered measures up as Type A5-30.

So far so good, but my specific query is about installing the ‘grommet’. Maybe this is only used where the metal sheet of the case is thin, used to reinforce the hole in the case and also retain the fastener?

What is the correct way to install the grommet, and the correct way to fit the fastener in it?

OK, when I manage to obtain some fasteners I can experiment, but I’d rather know the correct method beforehand!

Many thanks,

Andy
