Look at the document on the left.

Then look at the copy I am attaching.

The attached copy is the original document, held by me, and signed by Arthur V Nicholls who was a Brighton Haulage Contractor working for the Air Ministry in 1940 clearing aircraft wrecks. In 1974 he gave me his entire file of original reports. Prior to this he had produced a facsimilie (signed by him) of the same report and this was used by author Andrew Brookes in his Ian Allan book “Fighter Squadron at War”. Page 58 if you have the book. I set this up for Andrew so that he could reproduce the report in his book. Now, the supposed “original” report that is being sold is clearly some kind of poor copy of the facsimile in Andrew Brookes 85 Sqn book. A botched signature, not resembling A V Nicholls at all, stands in for that of Arthur’s.

The document is certainly a fake, as are the others being offered in this lot.

I have the original and only copy – and it is not for sale on e bay!!

Perhaps I should hang up my investigative journalists hat for a while. I have probably rattled more than enough cages for one day!!;)
