Used books seem to have their own price structure…
Online used book dealers are asking $250.00 for a government-published field guide to regional plants.
My office sells the same thing new for $14.00 tax free.
Likewise, I’ve seen some not rare, not old, not that good (IMHO) aircraft books on ebay with stupid prices.

There might also be people who are unable to go to HMV, Woolworth, ect. Either due to distance, or maybe they are disabled.
Naturally there are also stupid people abound :p
That hits the nail on the head. Is the time spent shopping around and maybe the effort of a trip to pick the goods up worth the saving? If not, then you might be happy to pay over the odds. Unless the price is way over-inflated, which is where the stupid people step in.;)

several times I’ve looked on Amazon, seen a cost and thought 😮
followed one of their “new and used” links and saved some cash.
I have also had very good expirence with the “new and used” feature on Amazon. All items arrived quick and as described.

You have managed to pin-point a fundamental part of business. You make profit by selling for more than you paid. Even the big oil companies do it 😉
Ebay is no longer a place, where people get rid of their old stuff – fleamarked style.
Its a place where micro-shops try to make a marked. Thats why its flooded with keyrings, coffe mugs, t-shirts, stickers and other rubbish.
There is a large number of films, which are now public domain (due to various reasons). Many of these can be downloaded for free (here is a place for such movies: www.publicdomainflicks.com). Micro-shops burn them on DVD and sell them on Ebay ect. Anything that is free and can be shipped, will be offered for sale on Ebay, so check the actual cost before bidding.
There might also be people who are unable to go to HMV, Woolworth, ect. Either due to distance, or maybe they are disabled.
Naturally there are also stupid people abound :p

Well, like they say, “something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it”……………

There was a period in the early days of DVD, when you could go and buy films in Woolworths and sell them on ebay for a profit….
