Scrap!
IMO I Think he is stretching the description a tad calling them “substantial relics” + without the id of the aircraft they are merely scrap anyway – but then one or two “enthusiasts” seem to be raking in a fortune for such scrap on ebay
Now the approx one ton of Spitfire V (BL585) I unearthed at the weekend IS substantial 😀 and no NONE of it will be for sale 😮

Hi Alex,
Never noticed all the BoB parts….
True I wouldn’t be able to identify an allison piston rod from a merlin.
I Second the worries at the end of your post, maybe I am too nieve ? but hadn’t considered that some people may raid sites to sell parts, But wouldn’t have thought that much profit could be raised from a trip to russia & back, assuming the part description is trueful.
Cheers

Hi,
There have been loads of aircraft relics on sale at ebay lately. A lot of them claiming to be genuine BoB aircraft parts.
Wouldn’t know one part of a P40 engine from another, so how would someone know it’s actually from a P40?
Not sure if I approve of this kind of selling. Is it small groups selling bits and pieces to raise some neady cash or individuals raiding crash sites for profit?
