Alright, as most of you will probably know I have been wasting a lot of time the last few months on modifying photos. It seems that not all my time doing this was wasted. I got an e-mail today from Boeing asking me if they could use my photo of a BA 757-300. They had seen this photo at modifiedairliners.
Now before everyone starts, I know it is april 1. However I checked it out to make sure noone is pulling my leg, and it seems perfectly real. The e-mail adres even had NAME@boeing.com (name witheld by me) and the full legal notice and everything.
Does anyone know anything about it? I suppose they will be second hand planes. It is common knowledge that Thomas Cook (Condor) wants to scale down. Could the planes be from there? I don’t know anyone else who wants to dispose of them.

Well I too would have thought that you could bring the toilets back upstairs without too much difficulty but apparantly they would need to go back to Toulouse and it would be an almighty job!
Peter T – ‘I do agree that TCX probably regret having bought the 753s. Overexpansion, it has killed many airlines in the past and will kill many more in the future.’ It wasn’t a mistake due to overexpansion but a mistake due to having taken the wrong type. We would have been so much better of with a pair of 767’s.

we can’t check german sites if no one posts a link… 😉

A little collective effort on this, nice job Peter and Jeanske! Nobody actually bothered to check that ‘German’ website? I sure didn’t. I thought Sandy was going to.

Finally you admit it 😀

Time to come clean.
It was all an april fools joke, and Jeanske was with me (so there is no german site with rumours about BA taking 753s). I did not receive an e-mail from Boeing about the use of that photo.

Well for the passenger The 753 are the best aircraft in the TC fleet. I have just flown in one last week and it sure beats the A320s by a big margin.

I was under the impression the dowstairs toilet module could be removed and refitted with another type of module or such as rest area or shop. Could this area not be reconfigured as cargo hold ?

Been chatting to a friend of mine, he can;t see this happening.
BA don’t buy second hand, apparently it doesn’t make sense, due to taxes.
Whereas if they buy New, they get tax discounts.
I think boeing are just generally interested in the photo

can’t they refit the toilets above-floor?

all I can think of is Condor. They got a fleet of 13 or so and they are in financial difficulties. I believe all 753s on the production line have been produced or are at the final stages of production.

With the announced cancellation of the 757 line are there any previous 753 orders looking for a new home?
