A passenger plane skidded off a wet runway and into the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday in Colombia, causing minor injuries to seven people.
The Brazilian-made Embraer 190 plane operated by Aero Republica was carrying 54 passengers and five crewmembers from Cali to Santa Marta, a tourist destination on Colombia’s north coast.
After landing at Simon Bolivar Airport, it skidded along the wet tarmac and slid halfway into the water, civil air authority spokesperson Martin Gonzalez said. The plane was evacuated.
Aero Republica is a subsidiary of Copa, Panama’s national airline.

well it was sort off ment to be a sarcastic joke as it was only 12 hours before a plane did the same thing in wet condtions in Brazil which is in South america;)

I’m quite aware on which continent one can find Brazil, it was just in the absence of full stops I failed to realise the bit about South American airports wasn’t connected with Embraer! 🙂

I don’t follow what you mean here??
I think what he means is that the gutter press think that only America and Europe make aeroplanes. They are bissfully un aware that Brazil has a large, successful aerospace industry. To them Brazil only makes coffee, destroys rain forests and harbours nazis.

I don’t follow what you mean here??
I think he probably means because this is the second incident in as many days, the media may turn it into some kind of ‘all commercial aviation should be grounded’ type nonsense report. It certainly does raise the question once more of what constitutes a safe runway to land on when wet, and indeed why aircraft do land if there are doubts as to how safe it is to do so.
Luckily there were only minor injuries in this incident. Let’s just hope the old saying of ‘things always happen in threes’ doesn’t apply here!
