Very sad for all those put out of a job.
My view was that EAL did a very solid job with the 1-11 ops. When they went to the B732 they got a good deal with the ex-Sabena a/c, but i think they then started trying to grow a little too fast. Then again, hindsight is a great thing!

Stoddard never actualy left EAL, and he was always the manager of Minardi (At lesat has been for over the last 5 years)

I think sice Pauls Stoddard left for Minardi F1 team, EAL haven’t been the same. 742’s @ MAN were great

Steve spot on, although in recent weeks they have been trying to transfer ownership to the companies biggest customer.

BBC news:
Massive job losses at air company
More than 500 jobs are due to go at one of the South’s biggest aviation companies, it has been announced.
European Aviation is to shed 560 jobs from a staff of just over 600, claiming it has expanded too rapidly.
It is thought the Bournemouth Airport-based company’s fleet of aircraft could dwindle to just two.
The company, which charters large aircraft, trains cabin crew members and maintains and services aircraft, was set up in 1989.

Is that the airline run by Paul Stoddard the F1 Minardi boss

Well the stories are coming out on pprune thick and fast now, I assume we won’t know the exact business set up and what it really was that lead people to think EAL has “gone bust” whatever they mean by that, until tomorrow morning when the employees get informed of the true picture by management.
Hmm, that last bit doesn’t sound right 😀

Apparently the 732’s are to continue operations. So perhaps theres hope yet
But I thought EAF cannot fly any more?

Even the 737-200 flights?
By: Mark L - 17th March 2004 at 19:26
Air Atlanta have been doing the hungry circling vulture for a few days now, assume that they will take over the flights.

Here’s one of the birds at NCL, does anybody know if their flights are going to be opperated by a different airline?

can’t find any evidence though
Nether can I, but looks likely, one of their 747’s getting broken up and the 737-300’s cancelled

That’s a shame if true, can’t find any evidence though.
