Today sees the departure from Norwich of a second F100 for Eagles Airlines … this time F-GNLK …. the earlier one was F-GNLI …. with F-GNLJ loitering around here at NWI, could this be the third for the same client at a later date ?? I notice slightly different colours used for the eagle on the fin and the lower fuselage stripe and underside colour ??

Keith.

“BTW, anyone remember the Gulfstream 1?”

I do! The Ford Motor Co had a small fleet of them based at Stansted in the late 1970’s/early 1980’s for scheduled company flights to (then West) Germany before they were replaced by BAC One-Elevens; and Birmingham Executive, which became Birmingham European Airlines, also operated a small fleet in the 1980’s for services to Europe. In the not too distant past I recall N196PA of Phoenix Air crossing ‘the pond’ on a semi-regular basis with intermediate stops at either Shannon or Prestwick.

Saw them in the ’60’s, looked smart then but now pretty dated. Some 200 were built before the jet age overtook them and about 44 remain in service. The G.159 was popular as a regional airliner and they may still be in service in various corners of the world. It is also ignominously used for freight and the biggest operator of the type is Phoenix Air (with no connection to the state) who have 13 aircraft.

You mean the prop plane? Never seen one myself. Are there still any in use?

Well !! Thank you all once again for your help with this ……. agincourt, thanks for that link, very interesting ? if you click ‘fleet’ it shows photos of a F100 but registered F-GNLI ?? Now my problem is …. my photo shows the other side of the aircraft with an Italian registration …. is their photo the other side of the same aircraft with a French registration ?? and to add to the query … F-GNLI was floating around here at NWI for quite some time wearing a colour scheme I cannot remember ???? (age problem) And also I do not know which of the various F100’s the Italian registered one was before its respray to Eagles Airlines ….. Does any previous i/d show on the Italian register, if anyone has access to it ?????

Keith.

Airfleets.net confirms that F-GNLI was changed into I-GIOA effective 22JUL. But since you made your photo 16JUL it seems airfleets is a bit off with the date. Or the spray shop added the new registration early.

Anyone else notice that the photo on Eagle Airlines’s first page is a photo-shop, and a poor one at that!

Yup, off to bed. But then, why would the aircraft be sprayed in Eagles colours with different regies on either side?:confused:

My brain is hurting this late at night. F-GNLI is I-GIOA, Eagles only have one aircraft. The aircraft was stored Apr 2010 and delivered 22/7/10. It was previously in the colours of Regional CAE (Air France).

Never heard of Eagle Airlines. But I read that Alpi Eagles was going to re-start. Since your Fokker carries an Italian registration they might be one and the same?

That would seem to make sense. Alpi flew an all Fokker fleet before they eased operations. Funny though, how a google search of “eagle airlines” turns up only this thread in relavent links.
