hi guys
think this is first time ive posted in this corner of the forum – be easy on me. 🙂
The EAP aircraft is currently resident at Loughborough University, and whilst doing revision for exams, I managed to get some photographs of the aircraft in the department (great revision 😀 ).
i realised that there is a lack of such photos anywhere, so here is, i guess, a little ‘treat’ for those that havent seen the aircraft or been up close.
She is looking in a sorry state – years of students using it as a teaching aid, but her she is.
(apologies for quality on some – i havent got the best camera)
Nose gear –

the port canard –

port main landing leg

cockpit – the screens are CRTs, not LCDs
side panel – throttle can just be seen at the bottom of the image

Martin Baker –

“where da engines went”
thanks
Mods- hope this is in the right forum 🙂

I hope it does go to Cosford and then when one of the Eurofighter protos gets retired they cabn sit next to each other so we can see how much of the design came from this aircraft.

Keep it safe for the next few years and then get it up to Cosford.

I studied Aero at Loughborough a couple of years ago and I had the dubious pleasure of watching some highly ‘skilled’ BAE engineers move this aircraft the mile or so from one end of the campus to the other from old to new building. Quite a task – it involved an aircraft tug, iron fairey crane, forklift and a chainsaw or two! I don’t think I have ever seen an aircraft abused in such a way ever before (or since)!!! Someone got their sums just about right though, there was a section where the aircraft had to be towed under a bridge and the IFF/Transponder aerial on the fintop just scraped underneath – wish I had taken pictures!!!

Thanks guys, thanks Paul.
yep, the port wing has been removed (resting in the opposite corner of the room), starboard wing is still attached and present.
however, it works quite well, because it allows us views like this:

Last time I saw this it was in the Farnborough airshow flying display, probably sometime in the early to mid 80’s?
FYI – The protoype Jet Provost G-AOBU (IIRC) used to be the guinea pig for Loughborough students before she was rescued and returned to the air.
As has been said above, hope she makes it to Cosford one day to join the other prototypes/technology demonstrators there.

P.S. Adam – Hope the revision and exams go well.

Hello
If she does make it to Cosford one day, I hope someone puts the wings back on, as they are missing in the first pic….
A tight fit into the building I assume?? and I guess that rules out a current DA batch Typhoon when one eventually becomes available….

thanks guys, pleasure posting them.
Superb, thanks for taking these. Might be worth alerting the modern forum residents too, at risk of inviting “Eurocanard” bashing!
might just do that. might sound silly but how do i do it? Ive never had a thread in two forums before – do i just create a new thread in modern mil just as normal – or can i do something to the thread so that it shows up in both forums?
