Hi, first-timer on the forum. I’m researching the early days of aviation (specifically Bristol-related) and would appreciate advice on where to find good quality/original images. I have tried local archives including Bristol Aerospace but imagine the sort of images I’m looking for (pre-1914, postcards, glass plate negatives etc) may be in private collections. Does anyone on the forum know of someone who may specialise in this area? Thanks in advance for help.

Hi David. The staff at the Bristol Archive have a good knowledge of the wider collection. The catalogue is a broad tool and dependent on the person who compiled each entry.
The library has a fascinating album of early Parnall aircraft that is worth looking at.

Thanks Oracal, will be trying the Bristol Archives in a couple of weeks. The central library is close enough for me to pop in to on a lunch break (when I ever get a chance to take one)!
