East Coast BBMF locomotive

Can’t see any references to this so far on here, so apologies if it’s already been posted, but East Coast Trains have named one of their Class 91 locos after the BBMF, unveiled at York on Saturday:

I hope there’s no irony in it being number 110 – could have been worse, it could have been 109, or even 111…

The nameplate is a nice nod to the nameplate style of the Southern Railway Bulleid BoB class Pacifics.

Here’s the reverse side, featuring of course the Lancaster:

Not forgetting the roof :cool::

🙂 One of my friends drove it today to York.I was amused by the number 110 ,surely that’s a German plane 😉

I did wonder about that, but 91-110 holds the UK rail speed record at 162mph, so it’s already a ‘celebrity’ locomotive and is adorned with a plaque to commemorate the record:

Yea your right , it is vinyl wrap —but as an ex spray painter who also worked for a sign writing company , I see the old trades slipping away ( Actually , a lot of our pub signs were done in vinyl ).

That looks rather nice, if it’s east coast mainline I might get to see it go through Retford at sometime.:)

‘Bout time too!!!!

It won’t be a paint job, more a vinyl wrap from 3M or similar, but even so looks a lot better than the normal EC colour scheme.

Lovely nameplate too. Hoping Hornby make a model of it!
