Thought I’d put some photos in a new thread, hopefully others will add theirs.
First up, the Bolingbroke. Now in a locked hangar, with guided access only.

Sorry for dropping out of this thread. My hard drive rolled over and died when I got back home on Saturday 24th and it’s taken me over a week to get back online.
Anyway, referring to some of the other posts, NMS does have Concorde seats. In fact, they have more than enough, and have bought even more and now have, I believe, three or four different types. Possibly they are going to show the interior in different periods. Who knows?
The various huts round the site have had to be repaired. As a scheduled ancient monument, the museum is legally responsible for their maintenance. A year or two ago NMS spent £40,000 just on stopping the huts from falling down, and this only because of their legal obligations. I think there is a desire to improve the site and they certainly can’t hope to attract many repeat visits if the site looks as dilapidated as it has for many years.
The idea of a visit to Dumfries is a great one and I’d be up for it. Dundonald has certainly closed, although I don’t know what’s happened to their collections. I had thought that perhaps somewhere more central would suit people such as Keith Mac who had a long drive to get to EF, nevermind all the way down to Dumfries. Perhaps the small museum at Kirriemuir might be interesting? I’ve never seen this collection – perhaps someone else might be able to indicate whether or not it’s worth going there?

Maybe it’s one of the engines from the plane that brought Dougie Bader back…
Woah! Too much alkyhol! 😉
I’d be up for the DGAM trip!

Just a quick question….that pic of the Me-163 Komet, what’s the engine in the foreground ?
It’s one of the Jumo engines removed from Rudolf Hess’ Bf110 when he “defected”

Wouldn’t mind that either.
Presume you’ve got confused regarding locations. Dundonald is in Ayrshire and there was a collection of cockpits at a garden centre. Think it’s closed now though.

Next trip – anybody fancy a day down at the Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum ( Dundonald )
I’d be up for that, There’s a lot of stuff to look at in the old control tower at Dumfries. 70 Miles south of Gla.

I remember that too, but the rest of the inside is still bare. There are a lot of other bits that will be needed to create a complete Concorde.

I thought RadarArchive said they had a load of seats in storage somewhere.

I think most of use were under the same impression – so it was a bit of a downer to find they only have 1 engine for her , also no carpets , no seats ……………… 🙁
Presumably the seats went on e-bay months ago ? Didn’t G-BOAB the one bound for Heathrow’s new T5 just donate it’s seats to the Brooklands Concorde ?

Hi guys. I think you will find the olympus was already at the museum long before the white elephant herself.
Something really needs to be done with the museum now.
I did notice that the nissen huts that were falling down are being repaired and that the one at the jet hangar had nice new window frames and aluminium sheeting over the roof. It will be nice to see them looking complete again.
Hopefully Concorde will give them a bit of a kick up the a*r*s*e to get the whole place running better.

I have my answer, thanks Al. To be honest I only asked as I was under the impression BA were keeping all the engines safely stowed away at LHR.

Great pics, are the Olympus engines going to be reinstated for displaying or left out as displays of their own ?
