On Saturday the 12th of July both East Fortune and Duxford have airshows on. Now I cant travel down that far to Duxford so EF is my only option. Last year was the first year they had the show on the same date as Duxford and the traders just didnt attend the show. The flying made up slightly for it but I bet that some aircraft we could have had at EF didnt come because they had Duxford to attend both days. Last year I warned EF about putting the show on the same Day as Duxford and just because I was curious on which day Duxford was this year I checked the listings and low and behold the bloody things on the same day as Duxford again.
Dont the airshow organisers listen to the public about their displays and you would have thought they would have learned from last year that trade was down. Tell me if you think this makes sense. If you put an airshow on about 2 to 3 weeks after or before Duxford then you will get more people going to it either to get in the mood for Duxford or to get to see something else after Duxford. Also it could be that EF is your only option. I think we would get more aircraft coming if it were on a different day. Or do you think that they might think they would pick up aircraft from the duxford dosplay as they would be in the air anyway and might come north of the border for a little while before returning to Duxford.
Well thats my rant for a while so lets see your thoughts and comments.

“What happened to the banter between you and Ian , did somebody rip their tights and took the huff”
Nah. Ian’s studying for an exam in delinquency and (in-)breeding of Jersey cows.
Please take Blair back. And the rest of the drunken beggars. Ta.

Ahh , the M25 , tarmac , another Scottish invention by “Tar”McAdam , another sinister ploy by Scots to strangle London;) 😉

Well, it is and it isn’t! Originally it was all Flair. After several unplanned landings, the fuselage eventually turned into a balsa cluster bomb, and I had to build a new one from scratch. It turned out much better than before, and as Ageorge will tell you, does everything a Cub should. It taught me a lot about r/c flying, especially co-ordinated turns, but once I had got going with my Kamco Kavalier (“Foofighter”) I just didnt want to go back to it.
Its an excellent trainer, and Ageorge is going to have a lot of fun with it.!

Aha one of the better kits then I see.
Someone at our club had the Black horse cub and it would roll and turn on take off. Not very nice at all until it was in the air but the Flair cub is one of the best ones out there other than a handmade one.

Hi Scott , thanks for the offer , I may take you up on that – my eldest son , Jamie – aged 6 , is particularly interested in flying the Cub so it gives me an excuse to partake in the hobby myself – not that I need much persuading .
Also many thanks to Der for giving Jamie and I the Cub , I don’t have the skill or patience to sit and cut loads of wing ribs so to be given a machine which is basically airworthy is superb , I wouldn’t mind seeing Der’s Spitfire in the air , I’m extremely jealous of Der’s Spitfire , it is absolutely beautiful , and the fact it is only Der’s second kit makes me even more jealous !!! , I don’t mind farting around with the electronics – but woodwork is beyond me !!

Alastair,
Do you know which cub model it is. Ie Flair models or Black horse or some other kit manufacturer.
And You would be made welcome at our club at Drem.
More space there than EF and you can make as much noise as you like with your plane.
At our club you get 2 free days before you have to choose if you want to join. By this time you would know if you wanted to join or not.
Regards

I only took a guess about what your job was so with being online IT seemed the best option.
And if I could ride a bike I would take you up on that offer.
Cheers
Only one way to learn , much better sliding across grass on your ass than hitting a car , if you see us bring your son over anyway , my two are only 6 and 2 yrs old , if it’s a nice day there’s always a barbie on the go too , mind you Der gave me a nice Cub R/C plane so I can see the bikes getting binned while I learn to fly properly.

Hi guys,
Look I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one as we all have different opinions about what should be at airshows.
So if we can find a solution thats about down the middle then we should all be happy.
And thats all I have to say. I wont post on this topic again as we could go on forever about the same stuff.
Cheers

Is anybody out there still working like me ?? , or are you all just recreational users 😉 , I’m on-line ’till Saturday sometime , if I go quiet it’s because I’ve had to go to work – back soon.

Just because we have a difference of opinion. It doesnt have anything to do with Intelligance. If you think you may have misjudged me then thats fine but I was only expressing my opinion on something I care about.

Actually Alastair Take this comment seriously I wouldnt want you to go getting killed or anything. We may have our differences of opinion but I dont wish anything nasty to happen to you or your family
***See you at East Fortune .***
You most certainly will.

Scott , this has gotten out of hand slightly , but hey DONT call me an IT professional :p :p .I’m an Electrical/Electronic Engineer to trade . I know you and your son go to EF to watch the bike racing , next time your over at the Sunday Market look over the tyre wall at the bottom of the car parking area – if you see a 14 year old Volvo estate , my scabby Transit van , a black Aprilia 250 and a scabby blue/white checked CBR 600 parked near the paddock , drive round to the Eastern gate and come over , it’s usually me , my mate (Bone ) and my 2 kids farting around , I don’t race but my mate doe’s ( Grey Bike Series RVF400 ) , the bikes are mine though , if you want a go it’s fine by me , this offer is open to any bikers on the Forum , or if anybody wants to go over to Crail it’s fine by me , summer’s in the air and it’s time to get the slicks out 😉 😉

Hi Yak fan. The Scots have been fighting amongst themselves for years but me and Alastair have a difference of opinion. Hardly enough for us to start a fight over.
