East Fortune

Hi,

I don’t normally post here, but RenFrew has steered me over to Historic.

Does anyone know if East Fortune is open to GA traffic at all times, by prior contact, or only during fly-ins?

Any help is welcome.

Thanks

Excellent shots!

I made a trip there last July and loved the place. I must say, Concorde has come a long way since then. It was in pieces when I saw it last.

Does anybody know why the doors on Comet’s are so small?

Is that the Comet that used to be at Scone, or am I getting my Scottish airfields mixed up?

You are probably remembering the Comet which flew into Strathallan, near Auchterarder, when the museum was there(grass field!).

The museum is long gone, and the Comet scrapped ,unfortunately.

I should have been at East Fortune and Edinburgh last week but didn’t make it. The Concorde certainly loooks in good condition.

Thanks everybody.

but what is East Fortune?

It’s an old world war airfield but now is used as a museum.www.nms.ac.uk/flight/

What surprised me about the Comet is how small the entry doors are, the top of the door was at my shoulder height. I bet there were some bangs of the head when people got on.

It’s me then…… 😀

No, wait – it’s the Viscount that’s at Scone, isn’t it? The Air Inter one?

Not any more, neither is the Trident.
