Well I used to cropspray from there 1968/9. It was deserted. If you landed on the apron you could taxi up the track to the main road. Park up and their was a transport café opposite. I had already ordered my fry-up over the radio. The next time I visited was in the 80’s when they were gliding. Javin James (BA 747 Captain) was running it. There was a wheel like contraption attached to the ground and by using a Jaguar with a rope around the wheel, the jag would drive towards the glider which would take off.- and usually reach 1000ft. I’m not sure if I explained that very well.:D
