hi
nx611 has about 700 hrs left on the airframe
as the lanc hasnt flown since the early 70s when it flew from i believe a south coast airfield to blackpool it would require a lot of money and a trip to BAE at chadderton, manchester for overhaul
about 2 to 3 £m possibly to put it up in the air
packard will build a merlin for £1m per unit
so it wont be cheap
and if it crashes?
no more lanc
is it worth the risk when you can see it taxi tail up
to view it inside£25
a taxi ride £165
a taxi tail wheel up £500
ive been inside
my uncle was a w/op with 576 sqn at fiskerton
brave men
this lanc needs to be preserved intact
see [url]www.fiskertonairfield .org
my uncles crew are on the site
(les brown)
in the next few days post permitting i hope to recieve 576s operational records from dec44 to sept 45 when les was with the sqn
should be an interesting read
Thats true but the BBMF Lanc and the Canadian Lanc could crash but they are still flying after all them years flying just look at the Vulcan only one flying be such a big loss if that goes down. But you must admit two Lanc’s doing flypast would be fantastic 😀

Excellent pictures Martin, yes would be wonderful to see ‘Just Jane’ leaving the ground completely but the costs would be huge, insurance too has risen massively since 9/11 Sally B was nearly grounded due to this a few years ago until Sir Richard Branson came to the rescue I think. A gentleman in my village flew from E.K. with 630 Squadron and completed a tour in the rear turret just as the war ended. He is a member of a motorcycle club my father is in and gave us a talk about his experiences which was very well received by all. I hope he will get his story down on paper or tape for future generations to appreciate. . . .
