I had a great day at East Kirkby on Monday. The weather was brilliant and the whole place just seems so relaxed and friendly. The whole atmosphere is a wonderful tribute to the people who flew from there, and the many bases like it. Thanks to everyone involved in the day.
Highlight of the day had to be the taxi run but all the displays were great, including the model aircraft.
Just a few pictures from the day.

Jane and BBMF
I don’t think the grass strip is big enough for the Lanc to land, but I’m sure I’ve seen a photo somewhere with the BBMF flying over the top of Jane.

Has the BBMF Lanc ever been pitured together with Jane?
Wouldn’t it be great to have the BBMF Lanc drop in for a cup of tea at East Kirkby, rather than just overflying the place?

When did Jane have the new nose art? anybody know.

Simon,
It went on in 2005/06 thereabouts. She still carries the City of Sheffield crest on her starboard nose, along with badge of Bomber Command.
I can only concur with BMkIII. A super day out (it’s rarely anything else down there!) with plenty going on at this friendly museum. Nice place. Wish we’d known about the sextet of Austers and de Havillands beforehand though, especially the “mass” flyout. We might have stayed nearer the flight-line if we’d known! A couple were fairly familar, Auster 5 TJ534/G-AKSY and Chipmunk WK549/G-BTWF, from Breighton.
