Despite the very bad weather forecast for today the show went ahead almost in full. The display was brought forward from 2pm to 1.15pm with two Mustangs starting the show instead of ending it. It was quite bright up to 3pm but the greyness did close in with a few spits of rain in the air before the flying finished before 5pm but nothing to get you running for cover.
This was nothing compared to the horrendous and persistent downpours encountered whilst driving home down the AI with almost nil visibility at times.
The flying was excellent. Thank you for a very good day. This was my first time at East Kirkby.
Just a few photographs.

Any idea what time that was as I am thinking it may have tried to come early, like the Mustangs?
Thanks
Martin
He departed EMA at about 1-1.15 PM attempted to skirt round the weather, but couldn’t, he then tried an alternate route around the top of Nottingham, again no joy as weather was on the deck, so he returned to base.

Thank you.
I have only seen one or both these Mustangs twice this year and I very much miss the Woodchurch display where Janie took part in the flying.
Any chance anyone can provide a list of where they will be appearing for the rest of this year?
Thanks
Martin

brilliant shots there thanks for posting 😎
Was the based spitfire there at all or anything from the BBMF?
James

Great shots of the Mustangs, very nice to see. The slot time was changed due to us taking notice of the weather forecast which sadly didn’t come true. This also meant that the Auster V and Stearman didn’t venture out.

There were no Spitfires, and I wasn’t aware of any BBMF involvement. But rather than focus on wasn’t there ( for which as we all know there can be many reasons ) and speaking as an ordinary spectator, I’d give a big thumbs-up to all who did support the show with a big thank-you to Peter Vacher for allowing us all the opportunity to see his very historic Hurricane.:)

Shame the RR Spit never made it, it did set off, but only got as far as the other side of Nottingham before returning.

I can’t match the excellent shots above with my ‘toy’ camera, but thought I’d post a few anyway – it was such a good day at East Kirkby ; a real ‘Garden Party’ atmosphere.
( Apologies for concentrating on Hurricane R4118 – star of the show for me !:o )
