Sorry for the shameless plug.
Shaping up to be a nice airshow for its first year.
Our display director is Mike Wood and commentary from Flypasts very own Ken Ellis.
We have had much support from Flypast and the Benevolent Fund to shape this airshow into, what could be, a great new show on the calendar and held at an atmostpheric location.
We have display acts from Hardwick warbirds, Woodchurch warbirds, Peter Vachers Hurricane R4118, Rolls Royces Spitfire, Swift Aerobatic team, Dennis Neville Flying Circus, RAF Tutor, Possibly RAF Chinook, Taylor Titch and many more!
The great thing about East Kirkby is that you feel as though you can get a lot closer to the aircraft than at other shows such as Duxford.
Hopefully the weather will hold out and we can have a great day.
A full airshow for only £10.00!

Yes, bl**dy forecasters, we sat on the ground waiting for the deluge that didn’t come. I think we were lucky and EK was in a microclimate plus the track back home remained clear until 20 minutes after we landed.

Janie and Marinell did, but early due to the forecast weather (which didn’t happen as planned)

Does anyone on here know if Janie ,Marinell ,or Rob Davis arrived there in the end to do a display ?? or did they not turn up due to the poor weather forcast ?

It certainly sounded well.:)…I was hearing it very clearly at the South end of Spilsby…
Thank you,
Clive.
She did 2 circuits over Horncastle. You dont realise what a noisy a/c the Hurricane is, till you hear it on its own.

A grand day out….. A lovely friendly show, well organised, and the excellent commentary by K E stopped as appropriate to allow
the aircraft noise to be heard. If I had to single out one display it would be Keith Dennison in the Hurricane – superb !
I’ll second all of that ! A very memorable day ; the organization and atmosphere were superb. It was very nice to be able to savour the Hurricane display with no distractions or interruptions.
Well done to all at East Kirkby – it was well worth the trip up from London.

The hurricane ended up staying over night at EK due to a band of horrendous weather that came through at about 1800. The first Hurri to stay in a hangar at EK i believe. Departed EK at approx 0815 (?) on the glorious sunday morning.

Well dona all at EK, a great afternoon out. Commentary by Ken was great – witty, informative and, as stated above, he would pause to allow the aircraft to be heard without interruption. Well done Ken, a lesson in how it should be done, and seconded regarding Keith Dennison!!

A fantastic show, thanks to everyone involved.
Please have another one next year!!!!
Shame about the weather FORECAST though, no where near as bad as predicted, until after the show when some lanes around Waddington were getting quite flooded!
Then to top it all a glorious sunset while heading back along the A5 to Shropshire!!

A few aircraft from Norfolk for a start, good to hear it was a good display, shame I didn’t make it…
You missed a treat Y11F, we didn’t have any weather problems either there or back in Nellie.

Well done the Met Office. I wonder how many people were put off travelling to to EK today? The rain didn’t arrive until after 18.00 hrs!

East Kirkby Airshow
I was going to go ,but because of the weather forcast ,i wont be going ,they put on a very good show a few months ago when they had Lola Lamour singing in the Hanger ,and they also had an original Lancaster Bomber crew answering questions ,but ,,2 points,,they kept having a power cut ,so the singing had to stop 4 times and also the PA was pretty poor and you could not hear what the Bomber crew Veterans were talking about ,,which was a great shame ,im sure Maurice and his band of merry men will try their best to put on a good show ,very nice bunch of people at the 93rd bomb group open day,the smoke generator, from a mobile disco i assume in the hanger made me laugh anyway ,,Cheers Terry

Unfortunately that weather front for the afternoon looks pretty bad. Such a shame that the weather hasn’t been playing ball.

Having spoken to our display pilots today we have the RAF Tutor coming over on Friday morning for a quick touch and go/practice approach and some practice passes and the RAF Chinook should be landing at around 12.00.
Weather forcast is beginning to look a little more favourable now.
