Is this as kinky as it sounds?

😮 :diablo:

Hahaha! 😀

Sorry to disappoint Rob, but I’m tidying up the headstone of a young Royal Flying Corps pilot on the morning of the 23rd, 87 years to the day after he died, after which I’m hoping to lay a wreath. Struggling to get that bit sorted in time though, as the colour RFC crest I’d hoped to get hold of turned out to be a) late, and b) a rather poor quality black and white photocopy which is far too small anyway. 🙁

A wreath WILL be laid, but at the moment it’s likely to be plain.

Cheers

Cees

Has worked stopped on the hampden since the death of the man who was responsible for it. I know that its been renamed in his honour but ive not noted any visible change or progress. Im sorry I cant remember the chaps name, Brian ………?

yes, many years ago now. Its just that ive not noted any visible progress since then but of course lots could have been done that isnt readily visible. It always seems like a very dusty unvisited place in the workshop, im glad that work is been done on it so the late restorers efforts will be realised.

Have I missed something, or got something wrong? I thought the day of Wed 23rd was the EK day – before the BBMF evening?

Yes mate, that’s one of the EK days. But some of these nutters tend to go all year round… 😉

I’ll possibly see you there on the 23rd, if I get 2Lt Wastell tidied up in time. If not, see you at BBMF. 🙂

youre probably correct as that bit of plywood taped to the back looks about the same size n shape of hole that you peered through!! 😀

Neil.

if it is it will look much better in the hanger than where it was. I shall look forward to seeing it next saturday, that is unless it is going somewhere else.

didnt this section used to be with syam at firbeck?

I think that hut was wide enough to fit that section in and you did have to view it in a night time pose so id wager it’s the same one, look forward to your findings.

mm could be.. although the inside display looked like just a cockpit rather than any ‘structure’.. hmm we’ll have to investigate this on Saturday then!

Aha. Presumably that’ll be the one which used to be inside one of the buildings (the one with the Hampden crash bits), but wasn’t there when we went a few months ago.

Not going to East Kirkby this weekend, but there may now be a chance of me getting there briefly on the 23rd…

Rob..

yep just the night run, and the Spitfire late afternoon, around 1700ish depending on the weather..

noticed this in the hangar today…

isn’t this the he-111/ casa that was in one of the huts in a diorama? I’ve not any idea as to its provenance however.
