East Midlands Aeropark photos (30/08/04)

Went to the East Midlands Aeropark yesterday and here is a selection of the photos from that visit.

I had a look inside the Vulcan and that made the day even better :).

Looking at this thread it appears only one aircraft on show has been left off, so here we go, the JP,
plus one of two classic British types. 🙂
(Both taken last Sunday)

Does anybody have any pictures of all the aircraft from the old Aeropark? I have been after some for a while now.

Thanx

Peter,

I have seen wonders done with some oil based waxes,,,The Southend Vulcan was given this treatment at one time…

One of the volunters once told me that the Varsity was capable of running but I think it was just moved to the new location at that time…

the vulcan looks a bit tired. Isnt there a product out that can be applied that brings out the color pigment without repainting the aircraft?

de Havilland Vampire T.11 XD382
de Havilland Vampire T.11 XD534 (pod only)
English Electric Canberra T.17 WH740

Also a Doddlebug V1 Bomb, other Bombs, aircraft tanks etc.

As I’m a volunteer here, I really enjoy my work with these aircraft. The collection has grown since I arrived in 2001 and is still growing 🙂

Andrewman

His complaint is over the number of aircraft that use the airfield…!
I was up at TW last night and apparently he’s been quiet for just over three months now – not a word or phone call… So who knows what’s going on.

We (the VAC) only have 5 events there each year Jan, Feb, Apr, Sep and late Oct/early Nov. So quite spaced out. The British F1 Grand Prix is in July so it is an even spread over a year for events.

Buys a house next to (as in right on the boundary) an active airfield and then moans…

The collection seems to be growing very nicely..any more pictures of the Varsity’s new paint or perhaps the Viscount Cockpit?..

Thanks for showing the pix

Hi Arm Waver

Excuse my ignorance but is it numbers of people upsetting this clown or the frequency of events ?

There are… Turweston events are suffering from such. (see my thread in the GA forums). Not always noise either – this one’s main gripe is the numbers!!!!

More likely they had a complaint from some NIMBY type idiot.

To be honest you would have to be very thick to move to an airport or airbase and then complain of jet noise.

Reminds of fool who brought a house less than a mile away from Waddo early this year and was trying to get me to fill in petition to ban flights in and out of the base.

they started the vulcan in the past??!

They certainly did. However if I remember correctly, the local council put a stop to it. Apparently Jet engines are a noise nuisance……at an airport…..work that one out!

Peter I’m not sure if they dry turn the Vulcan’s engines but many years ago they were all in running condition and were stared up from time to time.

I have no idea if the Varsity can still be run but it would be nice if they did.
