East Midlands Airport

just wondering what people think of the growing trade at the airport and do you think that it will be a good thing or a bad thing if they get more and more carriers serving the airport.
i personally think that it will be great for the airport as a whole and also for my self being an avid “plane spotter”
please visit Http://http://www.eastmidlandsairport.com/ for more information on the airport.

RE: East Midlands Airport

In that case, no problem. From the terminal turn right towards the hangars and DHL areas. You will go past the BMI hangars which also cater for third party 737’s so there may be something interesting around, check there first. Then carry in walking past the DHL centre. Once past there you’ll come to some traffic lights and need to turn right, after doing so Donington Park will be on the left. Carry on walking and you will pass under the landing lights, if you walk up the hill you will be at the spot I got the VS 346 from. If you carry on a bit further past the aeropark there will be a pub on the right (Nags Head) and walking to the top of here theres another good photo spot, but the light is better in the evening.

When you thinking of going to EMA?

RE: East Midlands Airport

The spot where my Virgin A340 was taken from (posted here recently) is at the end of the 09 end of the runway, but it would be a long walk from the terminal. There aren’t really any within easy walking distance, you’d need either a car or to catch a bus. I can’t give specific bus details but I think there is one that runs past Castle Donington, there are some photo spots round here but the light is better in the evening.

Take a look here for more info

RE: East Midlands Airport

Hey
EMA’s facilities are going up in the world and it proves that they are getting ready to compete with the big boys. there is a new company that has just landed at EMA and there name is Safe Case. its a new innitiative straight from the States. it involves putting plastic casing around luggage to protect it and its only at East Midlands Airport so there you go

RE: East Midlands Airport

Hi Stu.
What a fantastic little airport you have mentioned,I live in Rugeley, which is about thirty miles west of e.mids which puts me right under the final app. At night this gives me some very interesting airband listening from a number of freight operators,
one of the major contributors must be DHL from CINCINNATI .I can follow them in from 50 degrees west out in the atlantic on the shortwave talking to gander in nova scotia to the transition to shanwick at 30 west, then follow them in right up on the domestic bands till the final on 119.650 VHF . So thats why e mids has me hooked
burge…..

RE: East Midlands Airport

I like East Midlands, I find it a very relaxed airport to fly from. It is much better since the terminal building was given a facelift.
