Thought I’d share a few shots of 2 rather good museums, one considerably warmer than the other! With a bit of time to kill before flying out to Malta we had a look round the East Midlands Aeropark. A friendly little museum, it was interesting to have a look inside the Nimrod R.1 and see how different it was inside to our familiar MR.2 XV250. But first, a Vulcan greets you…
Argosy, sheltering some of the local birdlife within

R.1 under a moody sky
Vulcan and friends as a seriously heavy shower approaches
We scurried off to hide in the romney building until the rain passed. Once the sun came out we carried on exploring
Bucc
Lightning
And finally from East Midlands, a Meteor TT20

Over to Malta, for another Meteor TT20!
Apologies for the poor quality of these, I didn’t want to risk taking my good camera abroad. But they give you a good idea of a great little museum
Vampire, looking good after a wash and brush up by an ex-Victor man!
Sea Hawk
One of the many great model dioramas on display at the museum.

Dak sneaking up on the Beech 18
Meteors
The Spitfire rebuild
The Hurricane work in progress
And the Swordfish waiting it’s turn
Outside, some interesting relics. Mosquito (?) remains
One of the Hastings nose sections
And the only bit of Victor I could find, a seat out of K.1 XH667.
I can recommend either of these museums, great aircraft and friendly staff!
