I’ve always been fascinated with Aircraft manufacturers from E.Europe.. we have IAR of Romania, PZL from Poland, Aero Vodochody from Czech Rep, and um that one Yugo one (sorry i forgot the name).
So far most of their aircraft have been liscensed built helicopters (or derivatives of them), and training aircraft.
I have always been interested what kinds of tactical fighter and ground attack jets they could build. So far the only aircraft that seems to be so is the Orao which is a pretty good aircraft for it’s time. Had there ever been any attempts to create an indigneous fighter?
There is the Novi Avion of Yugoslavia I heard, based on the info ive read in ACIG.org, there seems to be two types..one resembling a Lavi type aircraft, the other resembling a single engine Rafale. there seems to have been assistance with French and Swedish companies as well..it’d be very interesting had this aircraft was produced..
The Czechs, known for their trainers, have sorta built a single seat fighter/attack aircraft in the form of the ALCA, although..i just view it as a single seat variant of their trainer.
