It is excellent news to see a new route from Inverness; it reinforces the need for better airlinks to the remoter regions and dependencies. HIAL has been in high level talks with airlines to participate in new routes to the Highlands so this new route compliments their negotiations very nicely.
Hopefully this new route will be marketed correctly and sufficiently. The real substantial trouble with Inverness is its situation. A large catchment area though a very sparse population. The route therefore, although only with a commuter sized aircraft, will have to have a satisfactory proportion of business and tourist passengers to make any sort of success out of it.
