Im going to southampton in September . I persuaded my parents to allow me to go by plane instead of train. So from lba which airline provides a better service? easter or flybe. And plus is the klm economy service to Amsterdam good because im going to amsterdam in a weeks time. 🙂

Haven’t flown on a Q400 yet but have travelled on a J41 a couple of times – found it even noisier than the ATP – enough said!!

You clearly havent flown on either then. I’ll give you three guesses what the Q stands for in Q400!
Yeah never flown on either before. Like I said, just a guess.

Would definitly pick FlyBe, much cheaper, and from what I can gather a much nicer aircraft!
To say the J41 is quieter than the Q400 is laughable!

Quirky??

Jetstreams are probably more fun since they may be less noisier than Q400s. Just a guess though.

On the subject of Flybe, seems they aren’t the only airline having problems with the Q400, judging by this report

Q400s fly at virtually the same speeds as 146s
Thats the problem with Flybe until E195 comes in, takes extra 20 odd minutes to travel 20nm less than a B737 etc!
By: Mark L - 24th May 2006 at 21:47
Well IMO it would be harder to go any slower.

If you want to go slower try a Jetstream, or worse a Trislander!

thanks. Two more questions. How much are flybes fly on board? What is the klm economy service like?
Its around £3 for a sandwich and a £1 for a drink, average stuff. I didnt pick up the magazine this morning so not sure exactly, but its around that. Certainly nowhere near £50 😀

Unless you are followng a specific schedule and require the use of Eastern’s 4 times daily service, go for FlyBe.
Save yourself £50 and splash out a fiver on FlyBe for a drink and a sandwich knowing you are on a more comfortable plane, travelling faster, and have saved (by that point) £45!

Eastern is the better onboard service, but it should be at 3 times the price! Eastern includes free refreshments (inc champagne), Flybe is buy onboard. Equipment wise, Flybe uses as a Q400, Eastern i’m guessing will be a Jetstream or Saab 2000, you may find the Jetsream a bit cramped.
