easyjet launching flights to southern ireland!!!

Easyjet enjoys strong summer

EasyJet says summer trading has been strong
Low cost airline Easyjet has said it is on course for a 16% rise in profits this year after a strong summer.
In a trading update, the firm said it expected full year profits to come in at £60m, higher than earlier forecast.

However, it said yields would remain under pressure in 2005 and that it intended to scale back plans to expand its fleet of aircraft.

The firm also said it would launch five new routes including UK flights to Ireland for the first time.

Action pays off

“Easyjet has enjoyed improved trading during the final quarter of 2004,” said chief executive Ray Webster.

“I am pleased to report that the actions we are taking to strengthen our competitive position has begun to pay off.”

The airline said it expected passenger levels to exceed 24.2m in 2004.

Easyjet now plans to increase its fleet by approximately 16% next year, not 24% as previously planned.

Im sure the flights to Cork will be a big success.Im pesitmstic about SNN though. It might work for 2 reasons.1.Its Easyjet and 2.London from anywhere can work. However I think itll be a fight between Knock and Shannon to hold onto the flights because they are very close to each other.
just as a matter of interest that taxes at Dublin are 16.81 and Cork are 21.29 Shannon are 20.21 and Knock are 8.01 so I cant see the taxes in Dublin being a factor.

easyJet have already proved very popular with people who own holiday homes who can book when flights are at their lowest.

I have doubts as to whether sufficient demand exists for all these new services to Valencia and Almeria. These destinations arent as well known to the Brits as Malaga and Alicante.

IB and GB Airways both serve Valencia as well. I know many Brits have property in Spain but still all these new flights amounts to a huge increase of capacity on the route!

I doubt we’ll see Easy into DUB, Ryanair have that market sewn up really.

Very interesting that Easy moving into Ireland, will there be flights to Ireland from the other bases? Surely it means the end of Babys flights on the LGW-ORK route.

Very interesting to see that Valencia and Almeria have been started, so soon after the same destinations were announced from Ryanair from STN.

Re: New Easyjet Southern Ireland Routes

Will we ever see a scheduled Easyjet flight into EIDW, as all we see these days in the 300’s in FLS for maint.

BTW, does FLS Dublin also have the A319 contract?

The 5 new routes from London Gatwick are:

Shannon – daily increasing to twice daily in Summer 2005
Cork – twice daily
Knock – daily

Almeria – daily
Valencia – daily

I wonder if the Almeria and Valencia routes will still be flown from London Stansted to compete against Ryanair or if they will just concentrate on flying to LEI and VLC from LGW?
