easyJet launches two new services from London Gatwick (18th December)
**********************************************************************
easyJet, Europe’s biggest low-cost airline, will add even more capacity to its Gatwick operation from 3 February 2003 when it starts services to Inverness, Belfast and doubles its daily flight to Alicante.

This will bring the number of routes that easyJet operates at Gatwick to 13, further reinforcing its position as the airport’s second-biggest user. This year, easyJet will carry in the region of three million passengers through Gatwick.

The services are as follows:

3 flights daily to Belfast
1 flight daily to Inverness
Increase to 2 daily flights to Alicante

easyJet has operated a single daily service from Luton to Inverness since November 1996.

Further substantial progress in merger with Go (16th December)
**********************************************************************

easyJet and Go are now selling seats from a single reservations system utilising the easyJet yield management system. The move took place on Saturday 14th December and means that the entire booking process for flights on both easyJet and Go can now be completed through easyJet.com or from a single telephone sales number (0870 6 000 000).

The launch of a single inventory and single sales channel marks a number of other changes which allow the combined airline to resolve any previous differences in policy and procedure. Principally, easyJet has separated the basic fare from the additional taxes and charges. This will allow customers to understand how the total cost of their flight is made up. easyJet is committed to reducing the amount paid in airport charges by encouraging airports to be more efficient in their use and allocation of facilities.

For simplicity, the additional charges, which include air passenger duty and airport passenger service charges, will be expressed as a single amount. The only exception to this is the charge made for credit card payments as this is levied only once per booking (regardless of the number of seats booked) and does not affect all transactions – for example, there is no charge for Switch payments. This follows the principle that easyJet will incentivise customers to save money where possible – in this case by offering alternative forms of payment free of additional charge, e.g. Switch.

The move to a single reservations system means that the flights for the summer flying period (from late-March to late-October 2003) can now be made available for sale onto a single booking engine – something that is expected to take place before Christmas.

This represents the second major milestone on the road to the full integration of easyJet and Go and follows the announcement, on 10th December 2002, that the two airlines are now operating under a single Air Operators Certificate. It is expected that the third and final substantial milestone – full integration of the two airlines – will be completed in mid-2003.

Ray Webster, easyJet Chief Executive, said:

“Once again, we are announcing that the progress being made on the integration of easyJet and Go is going much better than we had expected and means that for bookings made for travel from late-March we are, to all intents and purposes, acting as one airline.

“It was absolutely critical that we moved to a single reservations system at this time as we wanted to be in a position to start selling seats for the Summer flying period before Christmas and it made most logical sense to do this from one booking system – not two.”

Substantial progress on Go Fly integration (10th December)
**********************************************************************

easyJet and Go Fly (Go) are now operating under a single UK Air Operators Certificate (AOC) as approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. The switch-over occurred at 00.01 this morning.

This means that, for operational purposes, easyJet and Go are acting as a single airline with a common fleet, operating practices, recruitment process and CAA-approved postholders. The move to a common AOC has been completed ahead of easyJet’s initial expectations.

Vilhelm Hahn-Petersen, Operations Director, said:

“The adoption of a single AOC is a significant milestone in the bringing together of easyJet and Go as it means, for the first time, we are acting as and recognised as a single airline. I am particularly delighted that this has occurred substantially ahead of our initial estimate of 1st April 2003.”

Excellent progress in combining the two airlines is also being made in all other parts of the business. For example, there is now a single recruitment processes for the employment of pilots, cabin crew and airport staff; a lease has been signed for a new headquarters close to Luton Airport which should be operational from mid-2003; seven of Go’s 27 aircraft have been repainted in easyJet livery, and customers can book flights on the combined airline through easyJet.com.

Ray Webster, easyJet Chief Executive said:

“Excellent progress is being made in all areas to bring the two companies together. All functional teams are now combined and I envisage that the combination will be completed significantly ahead of our expectations.”

“On a separate matter, the project being undertaken to assess the option to acquire Deutsche BA is progressing well and we hope to be in a position to make a decision on whether to proceed with the option around March 2003.”
