easyJet to MAN?

Just can’t see them coming to MAN given that they chose LPL over MAN when deciding a northwest England base and have a contract with LPL stipulating the number of aircraft to be based per year but they are unconfirmed reports that they’ve requested slots for MAN for 2005 amounting to 13 destinations covering 19 daily services (including easySwiss).

When Easyjet offered Liverpool-Luton, it was popular, in fact I used it quite a bit and couldnt always get on, sometimes also fares were quite high (as the flight was nearly full) however I think many people from the Northwest don’t think of Luton as a London airport, and im not sure if many business travellers liked it. The train from Luton Airport Parkway in the mornings is packed, after getting up at the crack of dawn to catch an 0600 from Liverpool, you really want a more relaxing transfer into central London. I used the 757 Greenline bus a few times which was quite comfortable, but then you are on the M1 !

VLM offers a much better service to London from Liverpool now, and their on-time performance is good, Easyjets on LPL-LTN was debatable. I also remember they were moaning about landing charge increases at Luton at the time.

I doubt Easyjet would start BCN from MAN because both Easy and Baby pulled EMA-BCN because of sever slots restrictions.Im aware BCN now has a new runwy open but they were using 2 runways anyway one for takeoff and 1 for landings so does anyone know if any new slots have become available in BCN?

If all these routes start in Feb time, a good estimate, then that explains where the B737s from Belfast will be headed when we convert to A319s!

How won’t it make a profit?
If you could fly their cheap in about 30 minutes or drive in a car for 2 1/2 hours, which would you choose? 🙂

Remember you have to check-in etc at the airport and get to the airport. Also the flight is to short for a loco to make a profit on. They will sell next to nothing onboard.

Read the last post (or at least it was when I posted it)

Half the routes wont happen
No announcement till the new year
No based aircraft

Make of it what you do

Hmmmmmmm.

The problem with that particular forum is that a lot of the postings are made by people with a particular agenda to push, or journalists fishing for a story.

For instance, I remember someone posting a very authoritative list of reasons why Air Berlin would never ever start services from Manchester shortly after they applied for the MAN routes.

Time, as always, will tell.

My view

Amsterdam – unlikely as flights being reduced from here
Basle – highly likely
Dortmund – high likely
Rimini – highly inlikely – they don’t even serve Rimini
Palma – high likely
Malaga – high likely but a low frequency
Alicante – high likely but a low frequency
Newcastle – unlikely
Belfast International – highly likely
Nice – highly liklely
Bilbao – unliklely initially
Madrid – likely

easySwiss Geneva-Manchester – highly likely

What about Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Faro, Prague
