I’ve just read a thread on Airliners.net after reading a post on Scotavnet Yahoo Group claiming that due to ground subsidence Edinburgh Airport is to close after the summer. Apparently there was a news story on Scottish Television about it as well.
It apparently said that the international traffic would be handled by Glasgow, whilst the domestic traffic (and this I’ve got to see!) would be handled by Dundee!!!!
I don’t get STV where I am (only Grampian) – can anyone confirm that this is just a load of twaddle?

Rubbish! That forum is total crap! It’s so busy that sometimes topics are answered ten times with the same answer! Edniburgh is not going to close; gimme one reason! If all the regional airports in Belgium survive!

Completely irrelevant, but my surname originally comes from Fife – Kinghorn. Went there once and bought an ice cream from an ice cream van parked on the beach. 😀

Not from edinburgh actually.
I’m from Fife, think of GLA and EDI equally. Though I do beleive EDI is showing more potential as nore and more people want to fly directly into the capital.
I visit both airports from time to time.

I didn’t ever imagine it could be true. I can never quite understand the GLA versus EDI mentality anyway. A mate of mine had to go through to GLA on saturday to pick up friends coming back from holiday and whilst waiting he got chatting to some “spotters” in the terminal area.
They were quite excited because a Duo CRJ had diverted in there from EDI. My mate said, “You can see them every day at Edinburgh.” The reply was along the lines of “Oh, we’re Glasgow spotters, we couldn’t go there.”
It’s like Celtic v Rangers! Crazy!

No, because of his “Edi sucks anyways its just a tourest village full of villagers.” line
The guy is a ned, that sentence clearly shows it.

“Edi sucks anyways its just a tourest village full of villagers.”
LITTLE SH!T that he is. He better not cross my path.
EDIT: E-mail sent to that ned, Basically putitng the facts rights.
EDI will not close, is not sinking and is due for expansion, terminal and route wise

Dundee can’t take 737s nor A.319s. They can take CRJs and ERJs but that’s about the largest jets they can handle.

Would most of EZY flights go to Dundee?

As far I remember from when I worked there, Dundee Airport isn’t able to handle 737’s as the runway is too short.I think this Dundee thing must be a pile of sh!te.
Yes – when I saw the bit about Dundee I smelt a very large rat.
