dark light

Edinburgh – 24 March 09

I spent a few hours down the local today since the weather was shining on Scotland for a change. Got home and to be honest, I’m pretty pee’d off with some of my pics, I feel that they have too much noise in them and they are letting me down a bit. Any comments please feel free. I moved around a bit today so there was a bit of variety in angles.

Photography isn’t so good here due to clutter so I thought I’d try something a bit different, what do you think?

What’s the yellow and blue livery behind the BE Q400?

1L.

Looks very much like a B737 of Europe Airpost.

Good shots there. I quite like the final three ones. And I wouldn’t worry about getting a few dud photos – happens quite a lot of the time with me!

Hi Martin,

You have a little too much noise in the shadows in the first few as a result of them being backlit and then brightened. You can see quite a lot of noise in the lower half of the fuselage on the first EZY shot. To avoid this, just try not to shoot in locations that are backlit, especially when the sun is shining so bright. You can get away with it sometimes on cloudy days as the cloud acts like a giant diffuser, but unfortunately you’ll almost always get poor results when the light is so strong and you’re shooting into it.

You’re also oversharpening quite a lot at the moment. What sharpening method are you using?

The flaws these images have really arn’t huge. The originals are clearly absolutely fine so it’s just a case of sorting a few editing techniques out, but it’s nothing that shouldn’t be easy to sort!

Hope that helps. Feel free to drop me a PM if I can help further.

Paul

P.S. I really like the tail shots! 🙂

I prefer the different ones.

Which ones have the noise?
