A friend and I were discussing how big we thought the catchment area was for EDI, he reckons it’s probably about 5m within 90 minutes drive but I’m prone to think it’s more like 2m.
Does anyone know the real figure? Got a couple of quid riding on it!!!

90 minutes drive from EDI would get you about as far as Corstorphine, depending how fast the traffic jam is moving… 😉

90 mins drive west from EDI would get you past Glasgow, possibly as far as Dumbarton, so it could be argued that the most of the Central Belt falls within your definition. Hence looks like figures would be well over 2m.

The RASCO figures showed:
1-hour access time by road:
To Edinburgh Airport : 2,536m or 50.1% of the Scottish population
2-hour access by road:
To Edinburgh Airport : 4,01m or 79.2% of the Scottish population
90 mins is inbetween so very roughly you could say:
3.273 million! 😎
