Overheard on Edinburgh Tower frequency yesterday:
ATC: “Messerschmitt- there is a Spitfire holding to the East of you.”
ATC: “Spitfire – Do you have contact with the Messerschmitt in your three o’clock?”*
I bet he’s wanted to say that for years – and he didn’t even snigger.
If anyone knows this ATC guy, please thank him for the entertainment!
*Apologies if I have not quiet got the wording quite correct!

Reminds me of a similar exchange many years ago when I worked at Preston Radar which was actually at Manchester. At that time there were a few Dornier Do-28 business twins on the British register.
ATC: ” Beeline 123, your traffic is a Dornier left to right at one o’clock, range five miles.”
Beeline Viscount: “What do you want me to do, shoot him down?”

Cue regurgitated BoB script! “Dak-a-dak-a-dak-a-dak-a-dak…………”
Or:
“There he is, I see him – bloody marvellous!”!
