hi,
No its not Airline Liveries – redesigning website at present.
I managed to scan some transparencies from when I was a child!
Photography is not that great – was a teenager when I took them!
Gives a good variety of types using Edinburgh at the time – More to come.

Will have to resize originals and repost soon as they are using up a lot of webspace!

Don’t remember seeing an Iberia A300, but do recall the once weekly Iberia 747 service to the Canaries.
I went to TFS on holiday with a mate and his family. (About 1983?) We were meant to fly on an Iberia 747, but the A300 turned up. Gutted!
1L.

Nice to see the Freddie Laker Skytrains again
Just come down to LGW and see them with DAS written on the side! I’m assuming that is where the paint scheme came from anyhow!
Amazing to see the relationship of the engine size on the Trident compared to the size of the fuselage. They are tiny for such a big plane.

Operated on behalf of Aviaco to TFS on a Friday I think.

Loving those GLA shots, I miss the old terminal front now buried within the new version. I also miss the staff carpark where you could get good views of incoming aircraft to 23 (where the Britannia 732 is pictured). now part of the ramp west of the ‘new’ international pier
Don’t remember seeing an Iberia A300, but do recall the once weekly Iberia 747 service to the Canaries. Was it operated on behalf of Aviaco or Spantax or some such charter line ???

Thanks for the selection. Interesting to see how little LOT, Iberia and pretty much Aer Lingus have changed their c/s in 20 years!

Thanks Si,
The Merchantman was actually a passenger carrying Vanguard for the Scotland vs France 5 nations in Feb 1980. I think there was 2 of them.
I have a pic somewhere of a BMA DC-9 but no Viscount. Will post some more asap.

Awesome pictures….brings back memories of when I was a kid (long time ago). I love the Tridents, the Air Malta 720 and the F28 in Air Anglia colours just after it was renamed Air UK and the Merchantman and Viscount, have you any BMA Viscount pictures? Living near Aldergrove when I was a kid was fantastic with all these planes, I watched the first 747 land at Aldergrove (Aer Lingus) and managed to get a flight in a Argosy of Air Bridge Carriers..ah memories. Thanks and lets have some more.
