A Dutch aircraft broker in Baarlo, Holland, has several aircraft for sale: http://www.psaero.com/aeroplanes.htm The Lightning was obviously repainted and has no registration.
F-104 ‘D-8030’ (ex Belgium AF FX-45) has been sold sold to car breaker Ad Stouten as an eye catcher: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/1483925 It replaces the nose section of B-707 OD-AFY which was on the same spot for many years, but was recently sold to a diving club who planned to sink it in a lake to act as a diving object.
So if you’ve got any money to spare…..

For those that might be interested I enquired about the Lightning last July and the details I received were:
No Engines
No Instruments
18,000 Euros
Needless to say that was the end of the enquiry way over priced in my eyes.CheersDave
And that would be £12,000 or $25,000!:D

Ahhh The MIG 23 Club! The odd fast taxi down Bruntingthorpes runway, now there’s a thought!
I didn’t take much notice of the Mig 23 last time I was at Piet’s but I don’t think it is complete (or even close)

The MiG 23 would be my choice, too. Just to get a look at their way of swinging the wings! Seems a neat, thin, design from the outside.
Anybody got any engineering drawings of that to post?
Bri 🙂

You might change your mind if you see it close up. It’s an ex BDR a/c.
OK – I’ll have the MIG 23 as a 2nd choice!

F.2’s had round tails but when they where converted to F.2A’s then they had the stage three square tops fitted and also 600 Gal ventral tanks and cranked wing leading edges.
F.2A’s outwardly appeared identical to the F.6, only difference being the shorter cable ducting on the fuselage of the F.2A.
Regards,
John.
Well that and the lack of cannons in the ventral tank, wings not stressed for overwings, cockpit not to full OR946 standard, 200 series instead of 300 series engines and recuperaters instead of the fueldraulic system.

I always thought F2’s were round tails? I think you are right about the doors as it might be they were removed for repair?

Still suffering from man flu matey.
Seems wrong doesnt it that us Brits had to scrap pretty much all our Phantoms and as a result only a few examples now survive with non being allowed into privarte hands, yet an ex US machine is available to purchase for a private buyer elsewhere in Europe. To me that sucks.
Go bash some ears at MOD. I spent the best part of two years trying to place three airframes in Germany/Holland but the powers that be in London wouldn’t play ball. They were too scared of litigation some twenty years down the line.

The F.2s had the small fin originally but the conversion to F.2A included installation of the large fin as well as the big belly fuel tank and extended wing leading edges, so that apart from retention of the nose guns these were quite similar to the Lightning F.6.

I’d be seriously interested in one of the F-104’s!:dev2:
Garry.
Pm me what kind of price range and I’ll chat with Piet about it. I might even be able to arrange transport to the UK.

By: FMK.6JOHN - 10th April 2007 at 16:45
Pitot tube
Refuling probe cut
Nosewheel doors
Spine panel
Jet pipes
Engines
Main gear ‘D’ doors
Several inspection panels
All these are niggles but can be sorted in time, maybe some of these bits are in there possetion and have not been re-fitted post paint job.
She looks like she is in very good hands as the last time I heard she was dismantled and in poor condition, languishing in Hermeskeil, Germany having been cut up for storage.
